to the cabin from the engine bay i.e. new alarm/sound system, etc?
I've seen (mine as well where installers drill through the firewall punching through the basin in the cowl grille area and getting into the cabin).
One way to determine this is by pulling that carpet area back, one person in the cabin looking for water coming in and another with a water hose starting from bottom up around the fender area and working up the windshield. If it's the basin you'll know once you get to that point . If it's the windshield molding you'll know as you work your way up and if it's the roof drain tube you will know once you get up to the roof height.
Also check your fuse box for water and corrosion, I had to replace mine.
